A great autumn hike, full of emotions. The Brenna route has been described in many reports here (see the links below). My tour essentially replicates this one:

https://www.hikr.org/tour/post109406.html

The weather was OK, moderately windy, with medium-high clouds that occasionally broke apart letting the sun through. With the rainfall of the previous days I was worried that the Brenna route might be slippery, which it was indeed, although not overly so. Concentration and care was required when scrambling over rocky passages with a wet muddy boot sole.

The route is marked, sparingly though effectively, by blue arrows and dots. Furthermore, the path has been by now trodden numerous times, and can be therefore relatively easily identified by the traces of the previous hikers.

Three passages required particular attention:
A rope would have been very useful in the key passage, but having none with me, I used the short fixed rope which is attached there (after testing that it still holds). The scenery from the top of the Schiberg is grandiose. A cloud front coming from south-south-west breaks down into ribbons past the Alps, leaving the sunlight shine through the sky clefts. Snowy precipitation amidst sporadic sun rays can be seen on the mountains in the background of the Glärnisch and Bös Fulen. It is chill and a bit windy, but overall good weather. The Mittelland is partly under the fog, and partly under the sun.

The next etappe is the Plattenberg. The descent from the Schiberg to the Furgge, apart from being moderately slippery, does not present particular difficulties. Ascent to the Plattenberg is relatively easy, with only one "airy" (slightly exposed) passage on the grass band, see e.g.:

From the Plattenberg I descended towards Mürli through a grassy coloir that cuts southwards through the south-east rocky ridge.
