We start our hike at the Brunnmettlenalp, reached by car on an unpaved road from the upper end of the Obersee. There is ample parking at the end of the public road at ca. 1175m. We continue on foot to Ahornen where we join the alpine route onto the Tierberg. At P. 1524 (signpost), there is choice between two different paths. We take the steeper path towards P. 1867 in ascent (T4), leaving the more gentle route via P. 1869 for the descent.
After reaching the ridge at P. 1867, we make a short detour to the Bockmattlistock. The steeper part of the Bockmattli NW-ridge is secured with fixed cables (T3+). Turning back to P. 1867, the spectacular grass ridge of the Tierberg lies enticingly ahead. The crux is the Wildchamm, the steep and exposed middle part of the ridge (T4+). The subsequent ascent of the Tierberg west ridge itself is then comparatively easy.
The descent along the Tierberg east ridge (T3, just one somewhat exposed stretch near the summit) is clearly easier than the west ridge. Though this is an official alpine hiking path, there are no markings to be found anywhere. However, the path generally easy to follow. As long as you don't miss the turn-off at P. 1869 (small cross), you can't really go wrong.
This was a stunning ridge hike that can be highly recommended as long as the trails are dry.
