Piz Arlos (2697 m) is a mountain peak just south of Savognin. So far it had only two hikr reports, so it's not that popular I suppose. But according to the summit book, it had actually been visited five times this summer. The peak P.2863, which is nearly 2 km further south, did not have any entries in the summit book for this year.

Start of the hike was at 8:30 AM in the village of Savognin. I brought my mountain bike along, following the forest road via Alp Tarvisch to Motta Tscharnoz, where I parked the bike. Actually I mostly walked the bike uphill, cause it was warm and humid weather. Next, I continued on foot more or less directly up towards the summit of Piz Arlos. The last part of the ascent looks pretty difficult from far away, but in fact the difficulty does not exceed T4. Next, I continued on the ridge towards P.2863. The last climb up to P.2863 is easier than it looks like from far away (also T4). The second last "bump" on the ridge (before P.2863) is slightly more difficult, but short (T4, I). The descent from P.2863 in southerly direction I would rate T4+, I.

After P.2863 comes P.2905. But from the north it looks very steep and difficult. I descended in easterly direction in the steep scree (T4). It looked like the east ridge of P.2905 could be possible to hike up, so I started an attempt to do so. But at elevation 2780 m I aborted the mission. It was becoming increasingly steeper with a lot of loose stones on the bedrock, and higher up it looked like climbing gear would be needed.

For the descent, I tried to surf down on some snowfields, and later it was a long traverse to get back to my bike at Motta Tscharnoz. With the bike I was relatively quickly back down in Savognin, eventhough the forest road is kind of bumpy and has quite a bit of loose gravel in some places.

Equipment:
- Hiking sticks
- Ice axe (not used)

Remarks:
- Please see the attached GPS track for more details on the route.
- I did not meet any other hikers on this tour, except for on the forest road.
