Brunnkarspitze (2609m) - An excellent tour to start the summer holidays

Our first report on Hikr.org and our first tour in the summer of 2018. We’ve been spending our summer holidays for the last years in the beautiful surroundings of Boden and Pfafflar. Although we’ve made a few tours, we never thought of posting them online. For all of our tours we have always examined the detailed reports from the members of Hikr, for which we would like to thank you.
This year we started off with climbing the Brunnkarspitze. We found a short description in the AVF and, combined with a few reports on the internet, we thought this was a nice tour for us to start with. For a detailed description we’d like to refer you to the report of Andy84 or the guys from Festivaltour.
We drove from Boden to Pfafflar and parked our car at the parking place of the former Imbissstube. From there we set off towards the Fundaistal and climbed alongside the stream until we reached the upper Fundaisboden (2135m). With excellent weather and magnificent views of the neighbouring peaks we started off on the right side of the Fundaisplatten towards the Brunnkarjöchl (2510m) which goes through a steep scree slope. From there it’s only a short distance to the top. First on the right/south side of the ridge and then over the ridge with a couple of nice Stelles in I and II Schwierigkeitsgrad to the Schlüsselstelle. We both tried different varieties as one climbed straight through the crack in the wall on the north side of the mountain and the other went on the left side of the crack, which seemed slightly less difficult (see photo). From there it’s only a few meters up to the summit. On the way back we chose the more friendly route (I) from the top which bypasses the steep wall with the crack.
Summary:
It took us approximately 6,5 hours to return to the parking place in Pfafflar. However, this was our first tour and therefore we were not yet properly acclimatized. Furthermore, we rested quite some while on the top and a few times during ascent and descent into the Fundaistal as well.
