This via ferrata is most definitely one of the more beautiful ones in Wallis, and certainly the best in the Saastal. It is rather difficult, at least for a via ferrata, and the climbing experience isn't spoiled by an abundance of metal, like it is on the Mittaghorn klettersteig. We started around 8:30 at Kreuzboden and then walked for about an hour to the Klettersteig Einstieg. The via ferrata itself took about 2 hours, after that we descended via the alpine trail. After two additional hours we reached Kreuzboden again.
The first part of the via ferrata leads to a point (3093m) to the east of the Jegihorn. This part is not so difficult (KS 3 on the German scala). You then have the choice between the normal route (KS 3) or the 'Hängebrücke' (KS 4-5). We chose the hanging bridge, which was quite fun. After the bridge, the most difficult part of the via ferrata follows. It has almost no metal handles, and the rocks are rather smooth. It was a bit challenging, but very rewarding as well. The vista was impressive as always.
