Hike classification: 4 stars (very nice)
This Tour is from the beginning very nice. Very nice ascent through "Lärchenwälder", later a rather open landscape with still some "Lärchen" and many big stones. After a while (for us after 2h climbing) the idyllic. Lai da Chazfora is reached. Nice place for a rest. We wonder what the names are for the high mountains with glaciars southeast of us. The walk follows from here onwards the ridge. The ridge up to Piz Dora is marked. The ridge between Piz Dora and Taunter Pizza is not marked, but often a small path is visible. This part is slightly exposed, and sometimes the hands are needed (T3+). The ascent from Taunter Pitta to Piz Daint is very steep, with a lot of small, instable stones ("Schutt") (T3-T4). The optimal road was in our case along the established small path (not always clear), and not following the marks. Two times we followed the marks instead of the main track, and this was clearly less comfortable. Slightly exposed. In spite of the fact that we made already quite some climbing meters (1400), we were surprised to find out at the summit that we did this last ascent of 300 m in 30 minutes. At the summit we are confronted with some little vortices, that develop as a consequence of the differential heating between the steep mountain parts exposed to the sun and the shadow parts. Nice rock formations (some pilars that resisted erosion) in the descent.
