Day 1 of our short holidays in the Goms

Starting from the train station in Oberwald we first followed the road and then the path to p.1778 passing Turitschi and Bawald. At p.1778 we continued on the left and went up to p.1918, then p.2034, p.2102 and p.2166. Here finally a real mountain path started... We continued to go up in direction west reaching the nice Jostsee at p.2419. From the lake we went up direction north following the path passing p.2568 on the right (so we did not follow the path going to the Triebtenseelicke). We reached the edge at p.2689 and followed it to the summit of the Sidelhorn. At this point we descended following the path on the north-east edge down to the Grimselpass.

One of the major difficulties at the beginning is to find the right way to the Jostsee... There are several paths and roads going up and down and crossing each other in that region. A map is highly recommended. The technical difficulty is T2 till the Jostsee and then T3 along the edge on the two sides of the summit.

Nice mountain with nice view direction Wallis on one side and Bern on the other.
