Early Spring tour in the Toggenburg

The Neuenalpspitz represents a nice, less crowded alternative to the Speer as an early Spring tour.

We started in Stein and followed first the road and then the path to the intersection close to Rueboden. The path direction north goes to the Risipass from where the Neuenalpspitz can be reached from its north face. Since we suspected that there was still snow there, at the intersection we turned to the right and continued to p.1327. From there a steep path goes up to the Schlofstein and from there to the summit of the Neuenalpspitz following the south edge. On the summit we could observe that the whole north and west faces were still fully covered with snow and that we therefore took the right decision.
We went down following path traces to 1480m, turned on the left and continued to Oberstofel. From Oberstofel we continued to Unterstofel and walked along the Neuenalp river down to Starkenbach.

The whole trail does not present any difficulty and can be classified as an easy T3 route.
