Chirchli (2769 m) is a mountain peak which is probably unknown to most. But I enjoy hiking to peaks that are rather unknown, and where rarely anyone would go. This time it was even more extreme, because Chirchli is kind of far away from any starting point. As a bike & hike from Monbiel it is easily manageable as a day trip though. From Monbiel to the Vereina Berghaus mountain lodge I partially biked, and partially I walked the bike. This way it took me 2 hours to reach Vereina Berghaus, where I left the bike behind.
It was a windy day (Föhn), and there were more clouds than sun. But still it was a really nice hike with amazing scenery. Especially the view to the mountains Unghürhörner and Plattenhörner (aka Nomansland) is well worth the trip. From Vereina Berghaus, I initially followed the wrw marked trail in direction Jöriseen up to elevation 2150 m. There I headed left up to Rosställi. Difficulty ascent to Rosställi: T3+
I continued up through Rosställi, mostly across scree and rubble. Difficulty final ascent to Chirchli: T4-
It was too windy for a longer break at the summit of Chirchli, so after taking a few pictures, I headed back down again. During the descent I hiked across the minor peaks called Süser Chöpf, and then back to Vereina Berghaus. The bike ride down to Monbiel took me half an hour. The road is paved about 60% of the distance; most importantly it is paved in the steepest sections.
Please see the attached GPS track for more details on the route. The total time given for this tour includes about half an hour breaks in total.
Equipment: hiking sticks.
