Piz Scalotta is probably most known for ski tours, but it's also a nice mountain for a summer hike. If you follow the easiest route (like my descent), the difficulty does not exceed T3.
Start of the hike at 8:30 in Bivio. The weather was great, but again like yesterday with a cold breeze from the north. At the beginning I followed the wrw marked trail in direction Stallerberg. At elevation 2300 m I left the marked trail and headed into Val Gronda. During the ascent I was perhaps a bit too far left, and I had to cross several areas with bigger rocks and boulders (in some places T3+). For the descent I chose an easier route where I could also benefit from the few remaining snowfields.
The view from the summit of Piz Scalotta was magnificent. Especially the view to Mazzaspitz, Piz Platta and Piz Forbesch was great!
Equipment:
- Hiking sticks
Please see attached GPS track for more details on the route.
