This is a mountain located just north-west of the glittering St. Moritz. It can be reached by cab
to only few steps from the summit, terrassed and complete with an ugly antenna.
Our ascent to this mountain started at the comfortable parking below Champfer. A walk across the village up to it’s northern outskirt would lead to the start of the good indeed path climbing relatively steep up across the wood to access the Suvretta da S. Murezzan valley. After a short while you will be out of the wood and walking slightly above the eastern side of the stream. At some point, on your left, you will meet the deviation to Piz Julier. The walk is very pleasant and you will slowly gain altitude until you get to contour the Lej da Suvretta and, soon afterwards, Pass Suvretta will be reached. The view opens down to the Bever valley. On your right (south-east) Piz Nair is visible with the evident ascending route. Nevertheless it gets to be now a pretty boring ascent, in a lunar landscape. The cab arrival station (with a good and reasonably priced panoramic restaurant) is easily reached (about 45 minutes from Pass Suvretta), and in a couple of more minutes of further ascent along some basic rocks you will be on the summit. Piz Nair’s position allows you to enjoy a five-stars view, provided the weather assists, which was not entirely our case. Surely you will hardly be alone!
We went down the same way, a fast and comfortable descent.
Very recommended for anyone wanting to ascend a “3.000” without any hassle whatsoever.
