Great snow shoe hike to the summit of Curvér Pintg da Taspegn, with start and end in Salouf.
Start of the hike in Salouf shortly before 9 AM. The temperature was around -1°C, and it was partially cloudy. I followed the snow covered forest road up towards Sars. There was a snowmobile track all the way to Som igls Mellens at elevation 1950 m, so I didn't mount the snow shoes before getting up there. Meanwhile it had become sunny with blue skies.
Next, I continued up towards Ziteil, and up to the ridge at elevation 2700 m. Then I followed the ridge past P.2744 to the main summit of Curvér Pintg da Taspegn. In some places on the ridge there was no snow, and I had to take off the snow shoes and go on foot.
Near the main summit of Curvér Pintg da Taspegn I enjoyed my late lunch, before I headed back down across Furcletta. I just made it back to Salouf before it was getting dark. It was a long hike, but the weather was great, and the view was magnificent!
Equipment:
- Alpine snowshoes
- Hiking sticks
- Ice axe (not used)
Remarks:
The avalanche risk was "1 - low".
Please see the attached GPS track for more details on the route.
Surprisingly, I did not meet anyone on the entire tour.
