Nice snow shoe hike in the Pischa area (Davos). Start of the hike at 9:00 AM. It was mostly sunny, but with some thin clouds. I mostly followed the winter hiking trail, which was quite well groomed. Whenever I hiked next to the trail, I typically did sink in about 30 cm in the loose snow, even with the snow shoes!
At elevation 2500 m, I heard whumpfing sounds a couple of times, so the snowpack clearly was not that stable.
A couple of skiers in the area, but I did not see anyone heading for Pischahorn. The descent and traverse to Verborgen Pischa would be dangerous given the current snow conditions.
Remarks:
- Avalanche risk (according to SLF): 3 - considerable.
- At the start of the tour the temperature was -1°C, and at the end it was +2°C.
- I refer to the enclosed GPS track for more details on the route.
