This brief report is posted in remembrance of Toto, our unforgettable alpine-buddy who went over the rainbow bridge just over a month ago and is now happily hiking in the mountains of Heaven.
Piz Languard is a very popular peak, which can be summited after a really easy hike. It has been very often reported, so there’s actually nothing to add about the route.
We started from the Diavolezza Talstation and went up Val da Fain; then came the quiet ascent to Fuorcla Pischa followed by the long relaxing walk until the final steep jump to Chamanna Georgy. After that, in just maybe ten minutes time, the summit of Piz Languard was reached.
We slept at the hut (and special thanks goes to Claudio and his staff for the warm welcome) so that the following morning we could enjoy the vision of the Bernina-group at dawn. Breathtaking.
We went back to the Diavolezza Talstation via the same route.
A couple of final remarks:
- If you are hiking with your dog, be aware that the entire Piz Albris area is restricted, so dogs should be
kept by the leash. A forest ranger (very politely a-la-helvetica) invited us to do so.
- “Hooray” for Toto, for his highest summit ever!
- Toto, we miss you.
