There are quite a few mountains called "Twin Peaks" in the US, but the "double hill" in San Francisco is most likely the one which is known best. It is located near the geographic center of SF and offers spectacular views over the city, the many bridges, the Bay and the Pacific ocean.  The hike up to the tops is very short because Twin Peaks Boulevard runs a figure eight around the two summits and a small parking lot is on the saddle between the two peaks.

Our hike to the top was a little longer. We started at Crestline Drive east of Twin Peaks, where the chances of finding parking is a little higher. The stairs lead up to the saddle between the peaks and from there paths to the top of both summits. The North Peak (Eureka) is a few feet higher than the South Peak (Noe).

Noteworthy is the campground we stayed at during this visit of San Francisco. Not only because its location is unique and spectacular, but also because the campground is free (yes, it costs 0$ !!!). Not very many people seem to know about it, but in the Marin Headlands immediately north of the Golden Gate Bridge, there are a few campsites available. They need to be reserved in advance but are free of charge. This time we stayed at the Bicentennial Campground.
