Magura village exploration

Its vicinity to Brasov and Bran (Dracula's Castle) makes it a popular hiking area - though in early May we found ourselves mostly the only hikers on the trails. Magura has a good infrastructure, notably Villa Hermani, but also many other pensions and small hotels.
 
Having settled into the comfortable Villa Hermani, there was still time to explore its surroundings. Our trail is not the usual afternoon village stroll. There is a lot of up-and-down in the area. Our hike has short stretches of paved and unpaved road, but also 'shortcuts' across steep hills and meadows following faint tracks - particularly following the Monastery and around the bat cave.
