A very short but utterly satisfying hike to a high point with good views, on the border between Tirana and Elbasan regions. Kodra e Xhanivet sits south-west of Tirana, an area characterized by steeply eroded hillsides and excellent tranquil hiking. For a change to other hills in the area, a hike to the summit cliffs of Xhanivet does not require balancing on knife-edged ridges, but still provides a very alpine feel.
Kodra e Xhanivet is also marked as Kodra e Xhamave on some maps.
Views extend to all the other worthy hikes and mountains west of Tirana (including Mali i Gallushit, Vrap Mountains, Shenmarie and Luncit, Durishit Ridge, Dajti Mountain and many more). The loop hike starts near the village of Cacabezë, along the road that connects Baldushk (in Tirana region) with Garunjë (in Elbasan region). See the attached 4WD trail. The present hike is marked as a loop.
If done while travelling by car from Tirana through to Elbasan (or vice versa), it might be more advantageous to begin the hike at the higher point where it meets the 4WD trail, walk to the summit and back the same way.
