La splendida vacanza è arrivata, si parte...
Prima tappa in treno da Locarno a Zurigo e dà lì in aereo fino a Oslo.
Inizio un po' monotono e noioso che però fa parte di questo viaggio, comprese le 15 ore di attesa che ci siamo dovuti sorbire nell' aereoporto della capitale Norvegese. Finalmente arriva il  nostro volo per le mitiche Svalbard, che raggiungiamo con un volo piuttosto calmo... anche se all'insegna della nuvolosità costante sotto di noi.
Forse sarà perché siamo abitanti delle Alpi p perché siamo ben predisposti a questo genere di ambiente, ma all'uscita dall'aereo non abbiamo percepito un freddo particolarmente pungente....
Prendiamo subito il bus all'esterno che conduce in maniera sistematica alle entrate dei diversi hotel presenti nella cittadina di Longyearbyen. Di sicuro aspettarsi un abitato povero, triste e disabitato è ingannevole... infatti è il tipico piccolo paesetto che si trova anche nei luoghi più temperati e abitati.
Essendo una persona selvatica e amante della sola natura il mio obiettivo é il giorno dopo...e questo è arrivato.

Il tour con i cani da slitta e la visita alla grotta nel ghiacciaio Turner organizzato dalla Green Dog stà per iniziare, alle 10 spaccate arriva la nostra guida. Fredric, ragazzo gentilissimo e umile che chiede di seguirlo  fino ad un bel Defender che ci condurrà nel loro campo base (Bolterdalen) a pochi chilometri dal centro.

Per chi lo desidera ci mostra un locale in cui indossare è prendere delle tute termiche, calzettoni, guanti, occhiali, passamontagna, lampade frontali,...  Io essendomi preparato per bene e volendo sempre essere indipendente non ho avuto bisogno di prendere nulla. Anche perché nonostante la tormenta...il freddo non era eccessivo.  Ci spiega le regole fondamentali sull'uso  della slitta, come:  impugnare saldamente sempre, almeno con una mano la slitta. Per rallentare e controllare la velocità schiacciare il freno a pedale al centro e per fermarsi premerlo tutto e andarci sopra una volta fermi.  Per scendere dalla slitta è  necessario bloccare il freno come elencato prima e piazzare l'ancora e schiacciarla per bene.  Tenere sempre sotto controllo i cani e mantenere una velocità adeguata... per non investirli. Se sii avvista un orso, prima di scattare delle foto bisogna arrestarsi e aspettare lui. I comandi semplici in inglese "Yeah" "Stop" "..."

Nonostante la mia preoccupazione iniziale devo dire che è veramente molto semplice e facile "manovrare" questo mezzo di trasporto. Molto comodo e anche piacevole. La cosa splendida è che la guida e l'organizzazione sono semplici e rispettose, reali. Ti insegnano, spiegano e poi puoi fare tutto in maniera indipendente ma controllata, così da avere un'esperienza reale. Superiamo delle belle pianure con rocce nere, galleggiamo sopra un laghetto ghiacciato, corriamo per sgravare il peso sui cani sull'ultima  e lunghina salita ed eccoci.... Una piccola tenda e  un buco ci fanno capire dov'é la grotta.  Il pranzo è a base di  "spaghetti alla bolognese" disidratati e reidratati, molto apprezzati.  Thé e biscotti.

Mettiamo il caschetto e scendiamo nella grotta, il primo tratto inaspettato è divertentissimo... un toboga che ci porta a -20mt all'interno del ghiacciaio e poi il proseguo sul fondo ghiacciato dell'acqua di scioglimento estivo. Non è molto lunga, ma le pareti creano dei giochi di luce  e delle conformazioni di ghiaccio magnifiche. Il ritorno viene dalla stessa via... ci ritroviamo nuovamente con la tormenta al campo base, ma riusciamo a vedere un po' anche i "baby dog" ;-) giocherelloni e teneroni. OKKIO, che mordono tutto....

Il giorno dopo decolliamo ancora verso Tromso e lì visiteremo alcuni musei. Consiglio... POLARIA, il più pubblicizzato ed esteticamente attraente... lo lascerei perdere. Mentre il Tromso Museum e con il biglietto combinato il museo Polare li ho trovati veramente belli. Le attrazioni, quelle poche, sono un po' una l'opposta all'altra, per posizione geografica... ma camminare fa bene ed è bello.

La salita al Fjehlleisen è breve e   la zona è molto carina con dei panorami molto piacevoli, esiste la possibilità di fare escursioni invernali. Nella stazione a monte si trova un piccolo ristorante con varie cibarie...tra cui hot dog.

Oltre al mega centro commerciale vicino all'aereoporto, consiglio di tralasciare quelli in centro e andare dall'altra parte del ponte... a 10 minuti dalla cattedrale artica all'Amfi center", non troppo grande ma molto bello per il negozio SPORT1. In centro a Tromso vi è un altro negozio di sport, l'unico, "V". 

Se avete una sera serena e il periodo è giusto... vi consiglio la salita in 15 minuti al laghetto Presvannet, da cui la vista spazia un bel po'  e poi anche dal cimitero verso Tromso.... per avvistare l'Aurora Boreale... ma ricordatevi e impegnatevi.

Non consiglio affatto di pagare per il tour "caccia all'Aurora Boreale", come ci siamo fatti fregar noi. Principalmente perché pagando anticipatamente sarete obbligati ad andare o avrete comunque perso i soldi anche in caso di nuvolosità o peggio. Quello che loro chiamano "caccia" in realtà è raggiungere dei determinati luoghi prestabiliti da loro e non è la ricerca  via satellite della zona più serena in cui ci si può muovere in base al tempo a disposizione. Le soste che abbiamo fatto erano tutte in "piazzuole automobilistiche.... Quindi uno se noleggia l'auto fa molto di più e spendendo la metà....in diversi giorni!!

Inoltre  se la meteo lo permette al laghetto  e al cimitero è bellissimo e comodissimo da raggiungere a piedi e gratuitamente. Non abbiamo avuto fortuna di vederla la sera prima del tour al laghetto e quindi abbiamo buttato i soldi.  Senza contare il fatto che tutte le persone con testa si prepara vestendosi molto calda, in previsione della caccia e dell'attesa all'aperto... poi sul bus ti mettono il riscaldamento a "balla" e se non vuoi morire di devi svestire. Al momento della sosta/avvistamento ora che tutti si vestono e scendo..."CIAO". Perché nessuno ha la capacità di scendere e vestirsi fuori... "paura di un po' di freddo"... "che sei andato a fare in quei luoghi??", Inoltre si viene trattati da bambinetti e non si ha la libertà di girare nella zona per ricamarsi uno spazio personale per guardare, foto o video... no tutti in massa. Ma vabbè....

A noi è sembrato che molti non lo sapessero e quindi lo scrivo, l'Aurora Boreale non è che arriva e stà.... viene e và, magari diverse volte debole e poi forte...si sposta... Quindi un po' di "sveltezza" non fa male.

L'esperienza complessiva è stata fantastica e tralasciando la fantastica esperienza co la Green Dog siamo contenti di essere delle persone che si arrangiano anche da sole. Affidarsi ad alcune attività organizzate è rischioso.

Being a lover of wildlife and nature alone is my goal ... and the day after it arrived .

The tour with the sled dogs and the visit to the cave in the glacier Turner organized by Green Dog is about to begin, the 10 split comes our guide. The climb to Fjehlleisen is short and the area is very pretty with very nice views of , the possibility exists to make winter hiking. The mountain station is a small restaurant with various groceries ... including hot dogs.
