The Devil's Punchbowl

The Devil's Punch Bowl is a large natural amphitheatre near Hindhead. It belongs to the National Trust (for a rather benign membership fee you have free access to all the wonders and free parking of the National Trust). On a Sunday just before New Year, half of England seems to be wandering about the sites of natural beauty, but as soon as we left the trodden path and ventured into the muddy depths of the Punch Bowl, we were by ourselves  - more or less. 

This was a short walk, but just  adventurous enough for a rather cold December afternoon.
