Drakensberg - Winter 2011
|
||||||||||||||||
To get to the top of the Drakensberg Escarpment one would typically climb up one of the passes. A relative easy access is from the north through QwaQwa, Phuthaditjhaba, Witsieshoek, up the zig-zags and the chain ladder. This brings you close to the origin of the Tugela river at Mont Aux Source. During the first week of July 2011 me and another family member hiked in this aria, going further south to the top of the Icidi pass, back to Ribbon Falls and then out again via the chain ladder. We were hoping for a light snow fall during this time, but had to be content with just a little bit of snow from a previous fall. The photos here were taken during this five day trip.
