I agree, the foothills of the Sierra Nevada (in particular in Northern California) have a lot of similarity with Tuscany. The climate is somewhat alike, there are a lot of olive and cypress trees, many vineyards, the hills are gentle and even some houses are made to look like their Italian counterparts...
