Strecke:Cannero Riveria - Cannobio
Zufahrt zum Ausgangspunkt:There are boats navigating Lago Maggiore and buses going to Cannero Riviera. We stayed in Cannero the night before and walked from there to the hiking route. Unfortunately we first had to walk along the main route without a pavement, an unpleasant experience. The best way to access the route is to take a bus going between Verbania and Brissago and to get out at the bust stop "Villa Muller". I think it is the first stop after Cannero in direction of Brissago.
Zufahrt zum Ankunftspunkt:You end up in Cannobio. There are ships navigating on Lago Maggiore and buses going between Verbania and Brissago.

We left Cannero shortly before noon on a cloudy spring day. After leaving the city on the east, we first had to walk ~300 m on a main route without a pavement - a very unpleasant experience. The nice part started after reaching the bus stop "Villa Muller". First the route goes from the level of the lake rather steep up to Cheggio, ~500 m straight and ~50 m up. After that it is rather flat, with a significant accent only close to the highest point approximately in the middle of the hike. We found the route very interesting in respect that, except of occasional signs, everything looks very pre-industrial, the way it could have been 300-500 years ago. The attractions on the way are: view on the Castelli di Cannero, small village Carmine Superiore with a wonderful old building and a San Gottardo church with well preserved frescoes, views of the nature and of the pastures.
