Look at Scuol, 2000m below you!

Friday evening we travelled from Zurich to Scuol and spent the night in the youth hostel close to the train station.

Day 1: early in the morning we went by bus to S-charl. From S-charl we started our two days hike direction Alp Sesvenna and from there we went up to Fora da l'Aua. From the Fora da l'Aua we continued direction Fuorcla da Rims passing by one of the several alpine lakes of the region. From the Fuorcla da Rims we followed the path to p.3044 and hiked then the whole ridge till we reached the summit of the Piz Lischana, where we enjoyed the view of Scuol located almost 2000m below us. To descend to the Lischana hut we chose the "direct way" by sliding down the prominent rock fall connecting the ridge and the hut reaching it shortly before a Summer storm considerably refreshed the air... After some beers and a delicious dinner we falled asleep.

Day 2: early in the morning we followed Pascal who runned up back to the Fuorcla da Rims. From there we passed the characteristic alpine Rims lakes and descended to Gross Lager. Here the spectacular Uina canyon starts. The path was constructed almost as a tunnel in the vertical wall lining the canyon. After the canyon we continued along the road passing Uina Dadaint and Uina Dadora and reaching the bus stop in Sur En.

The difficulty T4- applies to the path between p.3044 and the summit of the Piz Lischana as well as for the unofficial descent along the rock fall, which is actually quite dangerous especially in its first part, and should therefore be avoided. The rest of the trail is mostly T3 with maybe a T3+ passage in the last metres before the Fora da l'Aua.

Like for all the summits situated above 3000m, it is always a special feeling to reach the top. In addition the Piz LIschana offers an incredible view of the valley of Scuol situated 2000m below. Also the Uina canyon offers a unique hiking experience and can be visited without problems coming from Sur En. Among the highlights of this tour there are also the numerous alpine lakes.
