This is a nice peak located in Valle Strona, a beautiful place indeed, and quite popular too for it being relatively easy to be reached.
Our day was not too promising from the start, but weather forecast did not mention rains, so myself and Toto hit the road up to the delightful little village of Campello Monti. It deserves a good look at it and so we did before getting on the comfortable track climbing very gently among a number of scenic waterfalls. The way to follow is unmistakable and some steeper ascent is there every now and then until you reach the Abele Traglio hut, placed on the edge of a good rock wall and on the shore of the tiny Capezzone lake. Images will tell you the day was far from sunny! Very poor visibilty and quite low temperature, considering July (the lake itself was partially frozen). After the lake the ascent is somewhat steeper, but never a real problem. Large frozen snowfields with enough footprints to lead you on despite the visibilty getting worse at every step. The summit
is comfortable and would offer a stunning all-round view, but we saw very little and therefore, after having signed-in on the summit book, we made it down through the clouds which kept hiding everything around us until we got back below the hut level. All together a very nice walk which Toto enjoyed anyway, but definitely worth another go on a smarter day.
