Woof! It's Friday evening and there is a new feature for all you hikrs! It is called "Explore" and there is a link (you actually find the same link in the new "Journal" menu on top and on the right side of the "Last reports and "Search" pages)
This new page, Explore, allows you to search in our big heap of reports by specifying various combinations of different criteria. We tried hard to put everything in there. For example, you can search reports of hikes in August and September, with difficulties T2-T4, with peaks of 3000m and 15km around Davos: here you go. Or, you can search all the reports where user X and user Y went together, or a combination of this, or ... . We leave to you the exercise to explore the Explorer.
We didn't tested every combination of criteria and we think that some combinations can result in a serious brainf*ck of hikr's database system, so we will monitor our error log to see if everything is working alright. You too, if you see something wrong in results, don't hesitate to report it. (Just when writing this post, we already found and fixed one such bug)
If your interface language is German, you will quickly notice that the Explore page is not translated, all texts are in English. Well, this is not a bug but a new exciting experiment. Instead of translating it ourselves (slow, painful and never sounds right), we decided to delegate this task to you. Yes, you! There is a page where you find all the texts to translate (and an explanation of how to use it). Volunteer to translate now!
Sincerely yours,
Zinaida
PS: As usual, questions, remarks, bug reports and translations of this post are welcome too!
