Sentiero Alpino Calanca Teil 2

Hiking classification: 4 stars (very nice)

Very nice hike. In the morning the rock along the fixed rope parts (up to p. 2514) is frozen up and in some places there is a rather thick layer of ice. Here the fixed ropes are very useful to come upwards. A steep and exposed ice-free descent follows after the first pass, there are also fixed ropes. In addition, the dark Northern side of this first "kessel" is traversed, and a new, exposed ascent follows to p. 2346. The next "kessel" also has often exposed parts, but also here the road is in general good and there a lot of fixed ropes. The ascent to Piz de Ganan is only slightly exposed, and in addition a very nice descent and traverse in the third "kessel" follows, with a very nice lake (Lagh de Calvaresc) which is an ideal place for a rest. The Capanna Buffalora is very nicely situated above another small lake, and is surrounded by lovely woods. This hut is very recommendable. The duration of the hike is indicated as 9 hours. We needed 6 hours (without breaks), but were not going particularly fast, so the indication of 9 hours might be somewhat exaggerated.
