While in the north of the Alps the mountains were covered with snow even below 2000 metres, in the Wallis it was still possible to go up to 3000m. It was one of the last weekend with a "summer" bus connection to the Moosalp, so we decided to profit from this.
From the Moosalp we followed the path via p. 2120 and p.2201. At this last intersection we continued direction north-west, passed the ski elevator twice and followed the path up to p.2510. At this point we continued direction west on the edge till we reached the Violenhorn. The last part of the trail was on the north edge (Grätji) of the Augstbordhorn, which we followed until we reached the summit. For the descent we chose the same trail.
The first part of the trail from the Moosalp to the upper part of the ski elevator is T2. Then the path becomes an easy T3, without any difficulty. Some attention is maybe needed in the last part of the ascent to the summit.
With its almost 3000m the Augstbordhorn offers a spectacular 360° view, and can be hiked in a relatively short time.
