After checking the weather forecast a dozen times we decided to take a long drive and once again go to unterengadin and spend some wonderful days.

We drove from Denmark during the night and arrived in Ftan around 6.30. We packed our gear and had a short breakfast at the parking lot before we as the first customers that Saturday took the lift through the fog up to Nateas.

It was beautiful going through the fog and entering the morning sun - a fantastic day we only saw a single little cloud that seemed to favourite Piz Clünas for many hours :-)

Being familiar with the area we quickly started ascending up towards Alp Clünas - at Alp Clünas we turned left saving Piz Clünas for later this day. Soon thereafter we turned right into the valley towards Lai da Minschun. During this morning we were all alone in the area and there were plenty of murmeltiers watching the "intruders". This part of the road is easy walked on well established paths - T2

When we reached Lai da Minschun we had a short break before we continued the walk up to P2898 - this path is steep but can be walked without any problems.

Once on the ridge you can turn left and summit Minschun Pitschen which is a somewhat softer walk or you can turn to the right in the direction of Piz Minschun. We turned right and continued the walk behind the towers - it had been freezing through night and since this area is in shade during the morning it was still covered with ice and several places required a little concentration. Between the towers there are a few places requiring "trittsicherheit" - T3

Thereafter the ascent follows the ridge towards the top - there are very nice views to both sides along the way - but coming to the top is truly breathtaking with a magnificient view.

We took a rest at the top and then continued down the same way as we came up. The sun had now defrosted the areas that were slippery in the morning so the return walk was fairly easy.

Once down at the lake we had a true lunch break before going up to Fuorcla Clünas to make the ascent of Piz Clünas from the north this time - 30 minutes after we were once again at Piz Clünas. From here we descended down to Alp Clünas and further back to Nateas to take the lift down from Ftan.

Quickly we threw our gear in the car and went down to Scuol to buy some refreshments before the shops closed and to raise our tent at the campingsite....finally after a long day we enjoed a nice meal in the setting sun - soon hereafter we was crawling into the sleepingbacks for a long nights sleep - with temperature below zero - before setting out again.
