Interesting, but not 100% true.
The Aboriginal Flag has the same Colors, but different shapes.

Usually you is right and the flag is as you have showed bat I have just seen also the less common "Germany" version, for example in front of Yarra Building in Melbourne.
I saw the Yarra Building and I asked "Why those German flag? It' s very strange!" Coming into the building I discovered that they were the aboriginal colors.
